Chapter 125 – I decided to seal my chuuni personality

As we walked with Duke in the lead, I was still unsure of where we were headed. Cecilia probably knew the destination, but I was supposed to be one of the organizers of this event. The goal of this gathering was to support Raven and Happiness, so why wasn’t I informed of anything?

What’s going on? This is definitely strange.

“No way, could they be preparing a little surprise for me too? Nah, that can’t be. So, probably…”  [Youki]

It was probably karma for my usual behaviour. I wasn’t as extreme as Yuuga, but I had certainly lost control many times. That was a fact that I must acknowledge. However, I mustn’t do the same this time.

Raven is emotionally unstable, but Happiness seems to be her usual self. Yes, she seems that way, but deep down, she might be nervous and jittery. To support them, I must seal away my chunni self!

“Youki-san, Youki-san!”  [Cecilia]

“…Huh!? What?”  [Youki]

“Well, you seem to be walking in a daze just now. Are you okay?”  [Cecilia]

“Sorry, I was just lost in thought.”  [Youki]

I might have been overthinking it, but it seemed that I was walking around in a daze. I was glad that she was concerned, but I must concentrate on Raven and Happiness at the moment.

“Oh, I see. Lost in thought… Is there something bothering you? It’s dangerous to walk around absentmindedly. You might bump into someone.”  [Cecilia]

“Right. Sorry, I’ll be careful.”  [Youki]

“Okay.”  [Cecilia]

After Cecilia’s warning, I followed Duke without thinking too deeply. However, as I did so, I noticed something strange. Even though everyone’s walking pace should be different, Cecilia and I were walking so perfectly side by side. It wasn’t like I was matching her pace on purpose, but I noticed that we were somehow walking together ever since a while ago.

“I heard there’s a shop around here that Sophia-san frequents.”  [Cecilia]

“Hmm, is that so? What kind of store?”  [Youki]

“It’s a shop that deals with shoes. Apparently, she orders custom-made ones.”  [Cecilia]

“Ah, I see. Sophia-san uses kicks primarily in combat.”  [Youki]

We weren’t flirting or anything like that. We were having only a normal conversation, so why did Raven keep glancing over at us? Even though he was walking ahead of us, he kept turning his head over. On the other hand, Happiness, who was walking in front of Raven, looked bored as she yawned and stretched herself. I wished he would pay attention to her instead.

“Yes. Regular shoes won’t be suitable for combat. Speaking of custom-made items, I think Clayman-san also ordered something custom-made… if I recall correctly.”  [Cecilia]

“You don’t have to remember that.”  [Youki]

The conversation we had was completely ordinary, but even then Raven looked envious of us. I could feel his gaze the entire time as we chatted. Even though I still enjoyed the conversation with Cecilia, having someone’s eyes on me made me unsettled.

Suddenly Raven gestured with his hand for me to come over.

“Raven is calling me. I’ll be right back.”  [Youki]

“Ah, Youki-san. Um…”  [Cecilia]

“Hmm, wait, what?”  [Youki]

Cecilia stopped me just as I was about to go, making me wonder if she wanted to warn me about something. But before I could check with her, Raven grabbed my arm and dragged me away, seemingly impatient about it. He probably wanted to keep the conversation private so he pulled me a little away from the group.

We’re not far enough to be separated, but still, Cecilia and the others are now looking at us with puzzled looks on their faces.

“…We definitely look suspicious to them.”  [Raven]

“Of course we are! You dragged me away from the group, after all!”  [Youki]

“…Sorry.”  [Raven]

“It’s no big deal. But what’s up?”  [Youki]

“…I was watching you and Cecilia, and I started wondering. Sorry if this sounds like I’m pressing you, but… are you two already…”  [Raven]

He thought that both of us might be dating. Normally, that very idea would’ve sent my imagination flying, and I would have deflected by flipping my switch, but I decided to be serious with him this time.

“No, Cecilia and I aren’t dating.”  [Youki]

“…I see.”  [Raven]

“But, Raven, I’m thinking it’s about time I stop keeping things vague.”  [Youki]

“…What do you mean?”  [Raven]

“I realized something. The other day, I went on a solo trip. A lot happened… And it’s not because someone told me to, really. It was just the trigger, but the decision to act on it was mine.”  [Youki]

“…So, you’ve already thought it through, Youki.”  [Raven]

“Raven, there’s nothing more I can say. I don’t know what happened during that mission at the sea, but…”  [Youki]

At that time, I received a merciless straight punch and blackout. Happiness couldn’t have done that out of mere jealousy or stubbornness. That action must have been some kind of answer for her.

“…Sorry. And thank you.”  [Raven]

Upon saying those words, he ran back to Happiness’s side. I hoped I had given good advice to him.

“I’m back!”  [Youki]

I briskly walked back to Cecilia’s side, as cheerful as always.

“…Youki-san, did you say something to Raven-san?”  [Cecilia]

“Hmm, well, we just talked like usual.”  [Youki]

Neither the content of the conversation nor my mood was anything close to ‘usual’, but what was most unusual at that moment was Cecilia. She seemed to be in deep thought after hearing what I said. Was she that curious about what we were talking about? Unfortunately, Raven couldn’t speak in front of Cecilia, so it would have to be through written notes.

“Hey, you two! We’ve arrived!”  [Duke]

Prompted by Duke, I looked up at the building before me. A large sign above the entrance read, ‘Excavation Exhibition Hall’.

“This is…”  [Youki]

“They say this place has all sorts of rare items, you know? Things dug up from the ruins, or replicas of weapons used by the heroes and champions of the past.”  [Duke]

So, it was essentially a museum. It sounded like a rather intellectual place, so it was not really my kind of thing. I wasn’t even sure if the place was suited for a date. What was the purpose of coming here?

“T-This place has a lot of things related to the heroes, doesn’t it? Even items connected to the Captain of the Knight, and Cecilia-sama!”  [Irene]

“…Interest.”  [Happiness]

Happiness seemed to be showing some interest. Did she want to learn more about Raven, or was it due to something else?

“…Information, gathering, appropriate use.”  [Happiness]

What the heck is she planning to do!? Seriously, who’s been teaching her all the strange things!?

As her captain, I was glad that she was more expressive, but I didn’t want to see such a dark smile on her face. Raven seemed to be anxious as well. He was trying to confirm with Duke if this was really our destination through his written note. Judging from the large letters on the paper, he was rather troubled.

“Hey, Cecilia. Are you okay with this?”  [Youki]

“Yes. This is my first time coming here. This building was only recently constructed. However…”  [Cecilia]

Cecilia slowly averted her gaze from me. It seemed that there were things that she was hesitant to show.

“…Could it be that they have things like handprints of the entire hero’s party, small figurines, or the portable food you ate while travelling on display?”  [Youki]

“They do not!”  [Cecilia]

“Thought so.”  [Youki]

I figured they might have handprints, though. Judging from Cecilia and Raven’s reactions, something in there must be making them anxious.
