Happy New Year to all! I’m looking forward to Yuusha Party anime tonight~

Chapter 190 – I listened to the lady mage’s true thoughts

“Maybe we should consult a priest I know. I’ve heard they hold lectures for expectant mothers before childbirth. We can check Mikana’s schedule and plan accordingly…” [Cecilia]

Cecilia, maybe it’s time to let Mikana off the hook? She probably hasn’t noticed Mikana’s reaction, which is so like her.

Raven seemed more invested in listening to Cecilia’s lecture as well. Why did he even come here in the first place? In any case, I decided it was time to return to the main point.

“Cecilia, Cecilia. Let’s get back to the topic.” [Youki]

“Ah, you’re right. My apologies. Let’s save this discussion for another time. Now then, Mikana… Are you all right?” [Cecilia]

“…Thanks to you, I’ve got more things to worry about now. Well, putting that aside, I’m feeling anxious. I am not sure if my current situation is okay.” [Mikana]

“But isn’t everything going fine?” [Youki]

She just needs to reach the finishing line now – what’s there to worry about? Yuuga’s already filled in the gaps around her, so there shouldn’t be any big obstacles.

“It feels like my world is changing too fast. Think about it. Not too long ago, I was living every day in a one-sided love… then suddenly a confession, cohabitation, and now marriage!? I can’t help but wonder if maybe Yuuga is pushing himself too hard.” [Mikana]

“I don’t think he is.”

“…He’s probably not.”

“I don’t believe so.”

My opinion matched perfectly with Raven and Cecilia’s. We didn’t even exchange glances; it was a natural consensus. The idea of Yuuga pushing himself just didn’t seem possible.

“Hey, don’t say the same thing! He’s a human, too. He might be stressing himself out from taking on so many of my feelings.” [Mikana]

“Stressing himself out, or… you know?” [Youki]

Yuuga’s feelings for Mikana seemed almost extreme; he’d even unleashed the power of the holy sword. It was something he hadn’t done, not even in the battle against the Demon Lord. I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of face might be hidden behind his refreshing, handsome look… though maybe there was no hidden side at all. He was just a straightforward person with razor-sharp focus and a bull-headed attitude.

I glanced over at Raven and Cecilia, and they both nodded in agreement. They must have sensed my thoughts and felt the same way.

“Maybe I’m just overthinking it. But I can’t help worrying… I’d hate to be a burden on Yuuga.” [Mikana]

“Well, what do you want, Mikana? Are you having doubts about marrying Hero-sama?” [Cecilia]

“N-No, of course not. O-Of course, I… I mean, I’m happy, obviously…” [Mikana]

Cecilia’s straightforward question left Mikana stammering. But if she kept wavering like this, it might be best to help her address her feelings directly.

“That’s how you really feel, right? It’s great that you’re considering his feelings, but it’s no good if it makes you waver about your own. Mikana, you’ve been supporting him all this time, so don’t you think it’s okay to be a little more selfish?” [Cecilia]

“…I’m not great at this kind of thing, so I may not put it well, but… in the past and now, the only one who can truly support Yuuga is you, Mikana. Maybe standing side by side, supporting each other, isn’t such a bad thing.” [Raven]

Cecilia and Raven were encouraging her to go through with the marriage. What should I do? Mikana seemed pretty moved by what they said, so I was concerned that my input might be unnecessary. Regardless, I decided to share my thoughts.

“He’s been over the moon about getting to marry you. He’s practically sparkling with excitement. I mean, you’ve been with him for the longest time, so deep down, you already know that, don’t you?” [Youki]

“Ugh… Why does your tone sound so condescending?” [Mikana]

“No, I’m serious. I’ve actually known you both for the shortest time out of anyone here. But even in that short time, watching you and Yuuga together… well, it’s been intense. You two really are a great match.” [Youki]

“Exactly, Mikana. You and Hero-sama are very compatible. It’s going to be fine. He’ll make you happy.” [Cecilia]

“…It’s natural to feel uncertain. I often wonder if I’m doing the right thing myself. But when it comes to marrying Yuuga, there’s nothing more to consider.” [Raven]

With that final encouragement from the three of us, Mikana let out a big sigh. Then, as if she’d finally made up her mind, she slammed her hands on the table and stood up, brimming with determination.

“Alright, fine! I’ll marry him… Though saying it like that makes me sound so desperate.” [Mikana]

“Yes, and maybe it’s time you tell Hero-sama directly. You still haven’t actually given him your reply, right?” [Cecilia]

“You just nodded when he asked you, didn’t you?” [Youki]

“Yeah, exactly. Just half-heartedly agreeing like that wasn’t fair and was a terrible way to treat him. I need to tell him properly… that I want to marry him and be happy together.” [Mikana]

“…Really!?”

Suddenly, the window of the house swung open. I knew it. When she said something like this, he’d naturally show up. There was no way he wouldn’t. So, while the others looked surprised, I wore a knowing expression. Of course, he’d be here. There was no point telling him his timing was perfect; it’d just go right over his head.

“I was actually a little anxious because I hadn’t gotten a clear answer from Mikana about the marriage yet. I’m so relieved…” [Yuuga]

“Yuuga, I’m sorry. I ended up making you worry…” [Mikana]

“No, it’s okay. I believed in you, Mikana.” [Yuuga]

It was as if the rest of us were invisible to him, or maybe he saw us and just didn’t care.

If they’re going to get all lovey-dovey, maybe it’s our cue to make an immediate exit.

Naturally, though, Yuuga, being Yuuga, didn’t let us leave that easily.

“Mikana, there’s something I need to apologize for.” [Yuuga]

“What is it? I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll probably let you off the hook. Go on, say it. I won’t get mad.” [Mikana]

“Thank you. Actually, it’s about the wedding dress…. I was thinking of having it custom-made for you. Is that alright?” [Yuuga]

“Sure, that’s fine. If that’s what you wanted to say, there’s no reason to apologize…” [Mikana]

“Great, thank you, Mikana! Alright, off you go!” [Yuuga]

In one swift motion, Yuuga picked Mikana up and stepped out the window. The rest of us rushed over to see what was going on, only to spot a luxurious carriage parked outside, where Mikana had apparently just been ‘placed’ in the carriage. The carriage looked extravagant, the kind nobles might use. Yuuga, looking completely satisfied, shut the door.

“I want to go with her, but the shop doesn’t allow men inside. They said they need to take her measurements and stuff, so I can’t be there.” [Yuuga]

“Of course, they wouldn’t let you in!” [Mikana]

We could hear Mikana’s exasperated voice from inside the carriage. She had a fair point, but still, why such an extravagant carriage?

“They were absolutely insistent, so I asked if they could do the measurements right away, and they agreed. So, I had a friend arrange for the carriage.” [Yuuga]

We understood his reasoning, but it still didn’t explain why he needed such a grand carriage. He could’ve flown her there, which would’ve been faster anyway. Even Mikana seemed puzzled, voicing the same question.

“If that’s the case, why didn’t you just take me there yourself?” [Mikana]

“Because I wanted the chance to come pick you up properly. And… I want to see the dress for the first time on our wedding day.” [Yuuga]

Cecilia seemed momentarily speechless, while Raven and I understood Yuuga’s feelings. Though personally, I wouldn’t go that far. It’s usually better for a couple to choose a wedding dress together, isn’t it? But since it’s custom-made, I suppose this could work, too. Raven, as usual, seemed to be taking notes from the whole event.

“I’ve already spoken to the staff, so… take care, Mikana! I’ll come pick you up when it’s done!” [Yuuga]

“Hey…Yuuga!” [Mikana]

The carriage began to move, and Mikana’s voice gradually faded as it rolled away.

…He never changed.

Thanks again for the translation, and happy new year!

While I’m here, I guess I’ll share my thoughts on the anime’s first episode. The animation is extremely rough, even out of fight scenes you can see backgrounds without parallax. The art style is unique, feels odd as of now but it might grow on me. Sound design in places also is rather lacking.

Fortunately the pacing was pretty good and they also made good changes, especially at the beginning. I think the season should be enjoyable, and I definitely did enjoy the first ep.

    1. Thank you for your support.

I agree. I’d like it if they improve on the background as well, but overall I like how they changed the beginning part so the story was better explained. Based on the opening song, it seems that they will be covering quite a lot of arc.

    Thank you as always!

Even tho the anime had a very rough touch, it’s great that this will be having an adaptation and just hearing the characters makes me smile. And the manga keeps being very pretty! Meanwhile we can keep reading the original version thanks to you Rinkage, so I would say it is fine as long as alternatives exists!
