Chapter 163 – I chased after the hero
I thought Yuuga would make a move, but nothing significant had happened from what I heard from Cecilia and Raven. I hadn’t been watching him, but there was no sign that he had met with Mikana. He didn’t seem to have contacted Cecilia either, so what exactly was he doing? I was curious, but it wouldn’t be a good idea to pry out of curiosity. Yuuga sought his own answers and acted on them.
“Still, it’s been 2 weeks… what is he planning?” [Youki]
I knew it wasn’t my business to investigate, but I just couldn’t stop wondering. It was possible that he was unable to act right away, or he was probably struggling with his decision. The latter didn’t seem likely, though. The look in his eyes when we parted was that of someone who had made a resolution. All I knew was he would be doing something, so it was unknown what the outcome would be.
As for me, since Cecilia mentioned she’d be away for a long while, I decided to meet her. On the way, I spotted a figure walking towards me. It was a straight path to Cecilia’s place, which meant this person must have come from there. When I enhanced my vision, I found that it was Yuuga. He looked like he had accomplished something. As the distance closed, Yuuga, who seemed to recognize me, started waving as he ran towards me.
“Hey, Youki-kun!” [Yuuga]
“Hey… Were you visiting Cecilia?” [Youki]
Due to my emotions, my words ended up coming as slightly stiff. I regretted it immediately after the words left my mouth. I couldn’t help but imagine, for a moment, whether he had done something rash. However, considering Yuuga’s attitude, there was no way he would do that.
“Haha, don’t worry about it. I just went to make amends.” [Yuuga]
“Amends?” [Youki]
“Yeah. You’re on your way to see Cecilia, right? You’ll hear the whole story from her… I need to go meet Mikana.” [Yuuga]
He clasped his hand apologetically and hurried away. Since he was planning to see Mikana, my worries were probably unfounded. Yuuga had found his answer. If he went to make amends with Cecilia, that would mean…
“Were you referring to Hero-sama? He just left a short while ago. As soon as he arrived, he apologized.” [Cecilia]
“I see.” [Youki]
“He said, ‘I’m sorry for everything until now’.” [Cecilia]
“And he bowed deeply?” [Youki]
So, when he said he wanted to make amends, I wondered if he had explained his reasons.
“He said he’d caused trouble for a long time and didn’t ask to be forgiven. He just wanted us to accept his apology because he’d been disrespectful. When I told him not to worry, he thanked me with tears in his eyes.” [Cecilia]
“Yuuga… did that, huh…” [Youki]
As he said he would see Mikana, this matter was as good as resolved.
“By the way, you mentioned you’d be away. Is it for work?” [Youki]
“Yes, I’ve been invited to be a special instructor at the academy for two weeks.” [Cecilia]
“The academy!?” [Youki]
In another world, an academy is a staple. It’s a place where you learn magic and skills, gain power, and bask in the glory of youth.
“…The one I’m going to is an all-girls academy. There are no male students.” [Cecilia]
“No way! What happens to all the youthful excitement then!?” [Youki]
“It’s mainly an academy where nobles send their daughters to study. The lessons would include things like etiquette and dance. That’s the focus.” [Cecilia]
It seemed that the academy was different from what I had imagined. I thought it’d be more like the classics from the anime: A handsome guy would form a harem there and grow stronger alongside his comrades. Then, when a great danger threatened the world, the handsome guy’s power would awaken, and peace would be restored—something along those lines.
I suppose I have an overactive imagination. Reality is never as it seems.
“So, you’re going to teach them about living as a noblewoman, Cecilia?” [Youki]
“I’m not in a position to teach others about that. I’m simply teaching magic and self-defence. That’s my role as an instructor.” [Cecilia]
“If it’s you, you could probably teach negotiation techniques too. And how to deal with children.” [Youki]
“I’m fine with the first part, but can I take the second as a jab at me?” [Cecilia]
“Ah, crap…” [Youki]
I accidentally stepped on one of Cecilia’s landmines. Luckily, it wasn’t a direct hit, so I got away unscathed for now. I decided to steer this conversation in a different direction.
“S-So, Yuuga said he’s going to meet with Mikana. He’s probably with her by now. I hope things are going well.” [Youki]
“Mikana isn’t around. Like me, she was called to be an instructor.” [Cecilia]
“What? But you’re still here.” [Youki]
“Mikana just left earlier than I did.” [Cecilia]
So, that was why she was buying formal clothes. It wasn’t for a marriage meeting, after all. I wondered what Yuuga would do. It didn’t seem like he knew about Mikana’s situation.
Suddenly, I remembered the determined look in Yuuga’s eyes when he said he had to meet her. That look took on a whole different meaning. No, I probably shouldn’t be thinking like this. Yuuga’s resolve was genuine. He would wait for the right moment.
“Haa- haa- Cecilia! Do you know where Mikana is?!”
All of a sudden, I heard Yuuga’s voice through the door. He hadn’t knocked, but at least he didn’t barge in without permission. His breathing was rough, so he must’ve run here without resting. After Cecilia allowed him in, Yuuga stumbled into the room, completely sweaty.
“H-Hero-sama?” [Cecilia]
“You alright?” [Youki]
“Haa… haa… I-I’m fine… Wh-Where’s Mikana?” [Yuuga]
Seeing Yuuga in such a desperate state, I wondered if telling him where Mikana had gone would be wise. If we told him, he’d head straight there. Causing a scene at an all-girls academy would be an issue regardless of his stature.
“Please… tell me where she is!” [Yuuga]
“Mikana… she’s at the Cortia Women’s Academy…” [Cecilia]
I tried signalling her not to tell him. Still, it seemed she was overwhelmed by Yuuga’s intense presence and ended up revealing the name of the academy.
“Cortia Women’s Academy… Got it!” [Yuuga]
“Hold your horses!!!” [Youki]
I tackled him to the ground, pinning him down. It was probably meddlesome of me, but a disaster would be almost guaranteed if I let him go.
“Let me go, Youki-kun! I…!” [Yuuga]
“Calm down. If you go, it will end the same way as usual.” [Youki]
Yuuge would get scolded by Mikana – that was always how it ended for him. And this time, it wouldn’t just be Mikana. The students and teachers at the academy would get caught up in it, too. As Yuuga struggled and thrashed about, Cecilia came over and tied him up with some rope she had brought. Now that he couldn’t move, all that was left was to convince him.
“Wait, Cecilia. Where did you get that rope from?” [Youki]
“It’s something I used a long time ago.” [Cecilia]
“Something you used… a long time ago?” [Youki]
“When you’re travelling, things like this can be useful.” [Cecilia]
The hero’s party seemed to go through some pretty intense places during their journey: Climbing mountains, crossing valleys, rivers, and oceans. It sounded rough.
“Ughhh…” [Yuuga]
The moment I let my guard down as I was talking with Cecilia, Yuuga began trying to break free from the rope with brute strength. It was supposed to be a tough survival-grade rope, but it started to make a creaking sound under strain. Both of us were frozen in disbelief as we watched it unravel. Without thinking, I cast ‘Saint Chain’ and properly restrained him with magic before he could break free.
“Oh crap.” [Youki]
“Youki-san, that’s overkill. Undo the spell quickly…” [Cecilia]
“Raaaahhh!” [Yuuga]
Just as I was about to cancel the spell, Yuuga let out a roar, and both the rope and Saint Chain spell exploded. From the smoke caused by the shockwave, Yuuga emerged, bathed in divine light. I stood there, dumbfounded, unable to process what just happened.
I’d been daydreaming about hidden powers being unleashed, but this is ridiculous.
Yuuga’s awakening didn’t make any sense in terms of reason or timing. Yet, he calmly analyzed his condition.
“It seems the holy sword is lending me its power.” [Yuuga]
“It’s lending it to you now!? There were so many other times when you needed it more!” [Youki]
Like when we fought at the Demon Lord’s castle or during the final battle with the Demon Lord himself.
“Youki-kun and Cecilia, I’m really sorry, but, I’m going.” [Yuuga]
Cloaked in light, Yuuga leapt out of the window and ran off. Was it my imagination, or did he seem to be flying a little? Were his feet even touching the ground?
“This is bad! Youki-san, we need to chase after him immediately!” [Cecilia]
“Alright, guess I’ll grow wings.” [Youki]
“No, you can’t! We’ll take the carriage. I’ve already prepared the supplies, so we’re good to go.” [Cecilia]
Cecilia grabbed my hand and pulled me into the carriage. Just like that, we headed off in pursuit of Yuuga, bound for the Cortia Women’s Academy.

He’s going to apologise for always causing a mess by charging into an all noble girls’ school. Yes, this is a sound plan and nothing will go wrong at all.
