Chapter 108 – I reported the mission with the girl I like

“All right, so we’ll be going home then. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t find anything worthwhile, but we managed to complete the request safely. Fuhahahaha!”  [Youki]

“Magic Knight-san, the request includes reporting to the guild. And since we’re still in the ruins, please mind your volume.”  [Cecilia]

“Magic Knight-san?”  [Cecilia]

“Y-Yes. As Magic Knight of Black Lightning, I must complete the request without any issue. We can’t let our guard down until we report to the guild.”  [Youki]

Somehow, it feels like Cecilia has me wrapped around her finger. Well, I do appreciate that she stops me from going overboard.

“It’s good that you understand it.”  [Cecilia]

“Yeah. Well, let’s get out of these ruins as quickly as possible.”  [Youki]

“I agree.”  [Cecilia]

Cecilia and I went back to the way we came, staying alert for demons. I used ‘Illusion Sphere’ to stop them and slipped by whenever we encountered any demons.

“It’s a convenient spell. Doesn’t it have any weakness?”  [Cecilia]

“You’ll have to avoid looking at the light emitted by the sphere. Or see through the illusion.”  [Youki]

Well, ‘Illusion Sphere’ creates an illusion of the thing or person you’re attracted to the most, so it’s hard to break free on your own.

I casually proposed to meet up with her again as I struck a pose. As Magic Knight of Black Lightning, I could do it easily with confidence. It was also cooler that way.

It was a slight letdown, but as it was typical of her, it was fine.

There weren’t any notable discoveries, and thanks to my magic, the investigation went smoothly. We had to camp out last night because we started late.

“Understood. Let’s have a meal after we report to the guild. You look like you’re in need of a break.”  [Cecilia]

Cecilia sighed and slumped her shoulders, looking exasperated.

I’m just being myself, but I wonder if there’s a problem. Well, whatever it is, I’m looking forward to the meal.

“All right, now that we have our plan, let’s head to Minerva!”  [Youki]

“I wasn’t actually talking about today’s plan, but okay, let’s go back.”  [Cecilia]

Retracing the path we walked yesterday, we arrived back in Minerva in the evening. It was fortunate that the guild was still open, so we headed straight to the counter where Clayman, with his dull and lifeless look, was waiting.

Cecilia handed over the report to Clayman casually.

Clayman flipped through Cecilia’s report with a huge grin. This guy is definitely plotting something.

“All right, my shift is over, so time is up. I’ll accept the completion of your mission.”  [Clayman]

“Hold on, I’m not done talking yet. Clayman!”  [Youki]

Clayman quickly retreated through the door behind the counter, as if fleeing.

“Well, now that we’ve finished reporting the mission, shall we go?”  [Cecilia]

“Ugh, I understand.”  [Youki]

“Let’s change before we eat. Your attire stands out. I’ll also revert to my usual disguise.”  [Cecilia]

She whispered, and I nodded in agreement.

To be on the safe side, we entered an alley, keeping an eye out to ensure no one was following us, then used ‘Vanishing Wave’ to turn invisible. After that, we went back to the same church and changed our attire.

“Uhhhhhhhhh…”  [Youki]

“Kya, w-what happened, Youki-san?”  [Cecilia]

I rolled around on the church floor, groaning. Thinking back on the memories of the past four days, my mind was thrown into chaos. Although, the experience this time was probably better than the last time.

“Cecilia, please listen to my confession.”  [Youki]

“I don’t mind, but… what about dinner?”  [Cecilia]

Come to think of it, we just promised to have dinner a moment ago. Besides, having spent these few days with Cecilia, what am I even trying to confess now?

“All right, let’s go eat. My confession is all the stuff you already know, so it’s fine.”  [Youki]

There sat Tiel-chan with no light in her eyes.
